It served as the band's fourth overall single, and their third consecutive Top Ten hit on the Billboard Adult Top 40 charts.

In 2005, country music singer Gary Allan recorded a cover version for his album Tough All Over. Allan's version, which was titled "Best I Ever Had" upon its release to radio, became his eighth Top Ten hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts in mid-2005.
